Living in the I.E.

The heat is on, ALREADY!!! We had very little Autumn and now we are being bombarded with Summertime temperatures. This makes for very difficult marathon training. Our solution is to get up even earlier in order to beat the heat. Saturdays training began at 6am and by 7:30 it was already too hot for me to keep running. So I walked the last mile.

THIS Saturday we will rise at 4am for a
5am start time. Needless to say I will not be training for another marathon until after Summer. City Impact Half Marathon is just 6 weeks away =)

Tendonitis

Oh the joy of being an older runner!!
First came the knee pain then the shin splints. Today I suffer from tendinitis in my foot. I've had this pain for a month. I can barely bend my toes and I walk with a limp.
The biggest problem with tendinitis?
Laying off. I used to welcome days off from workouts but now I'm having a difficult time taking the weeks off in order to heal.
Next half marathon is less than 8 weeks away so no rest for the weary one who runs like an old lady!!

I Run LIke an Old Lady

I'm not an old lady but I play one on TV. Not really but I certainly feel like an old lady and look like one when I am engaging in my new found love of running.

If you are older (I'm 48) and are interested in becoming a runner I will be sharing some of my experiences, failures and successes through these posts. If THIS girl can run a half marathon, just about ANY able bodied person can!!
